Clear the Board (Example)

Clear the Board is a fun race you won't want to miss. Players start with a 100 block and roll the die to determine how much will be subtracted each round. Careful! Make sure to "trade" your blocks correctly, or you won't finish the race. After 5 rounds, the person with the lowest score that was closest to "clearing their board" wins.
Steps & Setup Instructions
Objective: Remove the most blocks from the board and get the lowest score.
- Each player places a 100-flat from the Base 10 kit in the hundred’s column of their place value board and is given a die (blue 0-9), or game cards. If showing work to teacher after, flip 5 game cards.
- On go, each player rolls the die and removes that many blocks from their board, exchanging and regrouping blocks as necessary (i.e. if an 8 is rolled, trade the 100-flat in for 10 10-rods, then turn a 10-rod in for 10 10-unit cubes and subtract 8 from, leaving 9 10-flats and 2 1-unit cubes).
- After five rounds, the players write their score on their board using a dry-erase marker (or use place value cards). The person with the lowest score wins.
